Limestone University Presidential Search Committee Communication to Campus

March 28, 2024

The Limestone University Presidential Search Committee has been extremely busy during the past three months. I am writing as Search Committee Chair to report on our progress.

Candidate recruitment began in December 2023 with advertising and outreach to higher education leaders across the country. The Committee began reviewing applications in January 2024, and by the application deadline of January 30 we had amassed a strong pool of 103 candidates. We believe this reflects Limestone’s standing within the higher education community and the desire for prominent educational leaders to join the Limestone community.

In February of 2024, the Search Committee thoroughly reviewed and discussed the most promising candidates and selected 20 candidates that we wanted to learn more about. These candidates participated in a leadership assessment that focused on the candidate’s ability to work within Limestone’s cultural, academic, fiscal, and community environments. Following this assessment, eight candidates were invited for continuation interviews. It is especially important that our search remains confidential as our candidates have important positions at their current institutions and we must ensure that their candidacy does not create any professional adversity.

Following the continuation interviews, we anticipate inviting three candidates to visit Limestone in early to mid-April. At that point, the Search Committee will share candidate profiles with the campus community. The campus visits will include open forums where everyone will have an opportunity to meet the candidates, hear their presentations, and ask questions. Everyone will also be able to submit their impression of the candidates electronically to the Search Committee and Board of Trustees.

We appreciate the trust that the Board of Trustees and Limestone’s community has placed in the Presidential Search Committee to conduct the focal responsibility of selecting presidential candidates. We are excited that a myriad of outstanding educational leaders expressed an interest in serving as Limestone’s next president. We look forward to sharing the results of the Search Committee’s candidate selections with the campus in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

Jim Prevost, EdD
