Star is a South Carolina native with Spartanburg, SC being called home. Star serves as the Director of First Year Experiences within the Division of Student Success.
She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Spanish at the University of South Carolina Upstate. She received her Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Webster University.
Star has had the opportunity to serve students in a variety of capacities including admissions and recruiting, career services, academic advising, accessibility and accommodations, student activities, and peer leading. Star believes in the value of holistically educating and supporting students through their baccalaureate journey. Welcoming new students during summer orientation and teaching the first-year experience seminar are exciting ways in which Star continuously looks forward to serving first-year students.
Star’s research interests include first-year experience innovation and program assessment and evaluation.
In her spare time, Star enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family. One of her life goals is to visit each state within the U.S., in which she has 40 more to go!
