Philosophy and Goals
Limestone University is an excellent institution at which to study mathematics. Limestone offers two concentrations for the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree: Mathematics and Mathematics Education.
The Mathematics concentration provides courses that will prepare students to pursue careers in many fields such as finance, business, and science. Mathematics Education prepares students for teaching mathematics in grades seven through twelve. Students who complete the Mathematics Education program graduate with South Carolina certification in secondary mathematics. Both of these concentrations require four semesters of calculus, as well as additional upper level math courses.
Students come to Limestone University with diverse backgrounds in mathematics. The first task of the department is to determine the student's appropriate placement in the sequence of mathematics courses. The aim of the mathematics department is to place entering students where they are comfortable, yet where they will be challenged, where they will succeed, and where they will be well prepared for whatever lies ahead.
