|Spring Choral Concert Perfect Opportunity for New Tradition|
This Sunday, April 14, the Limestone College and Community Chorus will present its spring concert. And according to conductor Dr. Gena Poovey, this year's concert is "the perfect opportunity for you and your family to start a new tradition."
Scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Fullerton Auditorium, the program is entitled Baroque to Beatles and is free and open to the public.
"Our concert begins with familiar nursery rhymes, a text from Alice in Wonderland, and a lullaby, and moves to short pieces by Handel and Purcell, as well as arrangements of hymn tunes including Amazing Grace, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, and Nearer My God, to Thee," explains Dr. Poovey.
Beatles hits Let It Be and When I'm Sixty-Four are followed by other tastes of truly English music such as I Am the Monarch of the Sea by Gilbert & Sullivan and excerpts from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera will also be featured.
