Exhibition of Multi-Media Works by Noted Artist
"Posture" by Timothy Massey

Limestone College is hosting an exhibit of multi-media works by acclaimed artist Timothy Massey.

Entitled "Preliminaries," the exhibit of multi-media works is displayed in the A.J. Eastwood Library Art Gallery and will run through December 15.

A reception is scheduled for November 1 from 3-5 p.m. in the gallery. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Currently serving as Assistant Professor of Art and Gallery Director at SUNY College at Brockport in New York, Massey has exhibited his works throughout the United States and has also juried various exhibitions.

"Tim has a whimsical sense of humor which he combines a variety of influences including retro pop culture with personal home town references," said Carolyn Ford, Assistant Professor of Art at Limestone.

While the word "preliminary" may imply a type of preparatory study or experimentation before launching into a more dedicated work, Massey indicates that the "Preliminaries" exhibit at Limestone contains a series of finished works that continue to evolve. "The exhibition is a collection of small works on paper created over a period of roughly twelve years that has also served as a reference guide of sorts for how different materials can be incorporated into a piece. This ongoing series of small drawings was established toward addressing the development of larger and more dedicated work...but the works have become a dictionary of exploration into successful combinations of media while also striking balances in repeated motifs."

Works by Massey have been included in galleries of various organizations including The Burke Gallery (Granville, Ohio), Clemson University's Architectural Foundation, Columbus Museum of Art (Columbus, Ohio), the University of Tennessee's Ewing Gallery of Art and Architecture (Knoxville, Tennessee), and Harper College (Palatine, Illinois).
