|Limestone College and Community Chorus Presents Holiday Classics This Sunday|
The 33-voice strong Limestone College and Community Chorus will perform its fall concert Sunday, November 20th at 4:00 p.m. at Grassy Pond Baptist Church (254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney).
Admission is free and the public is invited.
Dr. Gena Poovey, Conductor and Director of Choral Activities at Limestone, commented that "the theme for this year's concert is ‘Holiday Hospitality'; a theme that we feel resonates on a variety of levels. The hospitality that the Grassy Pond congregation shows us by inviting us to use their stage in bringing our gift of song to the community; the hospitality and joyousness that is naturally shown during this time of year; and the sense of hospitality for which this region of the country is renowned for. The Grassy Pond church family has made it very clear that they welcome all members of the community to attend, so we hope our usual audience members will join us."
The concert will include The Carolers at My Door (Caroline Mallonée), Home for the Holidays (Robert Allen and Al Stillman) made popular by Perry Como, Jumble Bells (Eric Lanes Barne), and Christmas...In About three Minutes (Mark Weston). In a performance of Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata, the chorus will be accompanied by an organ and brass quartet.
Local churches represented by members of the Chorus are Buford Street Methodist, Cherokee Avenue Baptist, Circle of Grace Lutheran, First Baptist, and Grassy Pond. Members from two churches from Spartanburg, the Church of the Advent Episcopal and Nazareth Presbyterian, are also in the Chorus.
