Rebecca Guzewicz teaches applied lessons and directs the Percussion Ensemble at Limestone College. She recently received a Master of Music Performance degree in percussion from Winthrop University where she was exposed to traditional West African percussion studies on the djembe and mmbira. Before deciding to continue specialize as a percussionist, Ms. Guzewicz was a band director in North Carolina and provided instruction for various marching bands in the larger Charlotte area. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Appalachian State University where she had the opportunity to study ethnic percussion, particularly the steel bands of Trinidad and Tobago where she also completed a study abroad program at the University of the West Indies. Between her scholastic studies and her drum corps experiences Ms. Guzewicz has studied with B. Michael Williams, Adam Snow, Andrew Beall, Rob Falvo, Scot Meister, and Jeff Jones. She is a member of the Percussion Arts Society and actively performs throughout the region. Ms. Guzewicz continues to teach percussionists at Saluda Trail Middle School and South Pointe High School as well as providing clinics and individual lessons as requested by other schools in York County.
